ESN has not only developed a strong portfolio of clients and publications concerning sustainability issues, but has looked closely in the mirror at its own green credentials.
A decade of working for the European Commission’s Environment Directorate-General (DG), for instance, has yielded a diverse range of products and services, from magazines like the Environment for Europeans and online communications campaign like the ‘You control climate change’ website, to daily newspapers reporting on the internationally recognised Green Week.
ESN uses the European Framework for Quality Management’s guidelines for corporate social responsibility (CSR) which helps us identify our social, environmental and economic impacts and then improve and integrate them into policy and strategy to improve our day-to-day management. This also ties in with ESN’s ongoing ISO certification process.
To reduce our environmental impact, ESN is enrolled as a voluntary participant in the Brussels-Capital Region’s official ‘Eco-dynamic Business’ environmental labelling system, a programme managed by the Institut Bruxellois pour la Gestion de l’Environnement (IBGE). The Environment DG is participating in the jury awarding the Eco-Dynamic Business label to candidate companies. This label is seen as a good introduction to the Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS) and ISO14001 certifications.
