The client’s communication objectives

Communicate the EU’s achievements in 23 languages to the general public in a dynamic manner.

The main challenges

To communicate ten achievements in two minutes for all languages while keeping within the budget.

ESN’s proposed solution
  • To use no voice-overs to save on translation. Subtitles were translated.
  • Use of dynamic 2D animation, images, text, archival footage and catchy music to create a modern and appealing video for younger Europeans. The video integrates the look and feel of the specialised website created for the 2009 Europe and You campaign.

Key features of deliverables

Beta Digital format video in 23 languages (text translation). The video is the centrepiece of the dedicated website and was also featured on EUTube.

The video was part of an annual campaign, ‘Europe and You’, launched by the European Commission to highlight the achievements of the past year. In this case, 10 achievements were highlighted in 2009. Creative graphics, animation and live video are used together to create a compelling story of the EU’s benefits to its citizens.
