Quality Officer

Mission

As a key team member in our Quality department, you will be responsible for ensuring that all our new websites are of the highest quality. You will carry out various tasks along the web production chain, preparing and/or checking the work of various colleagues, in particular web integrators, in order to improve the final quality of all products.

In collaboration with the head of the department, you will also take part in internal initiatives to permanently improve internal quality control processes.

Flexible and well organized, you have very conscientious approach to your daily quality control work and you are motivated to deliver high quality websites. You are resistant to the stress and able to work on multiples projects at the same time, always meeting deadlines.

Profile

European Affairs Junior Communication Officer

Mission

ESN operates the Europe Direct Contact Centre (EDCC) for the Directorate-General Communication of the European Commission. The EDCC answers questions on EU affairs from citizens and businesses across the EU. Enquiries may be submitted in any of the EU’s 23 official languages, and may address any aspect of its institutions, policies and programmes.

The responsibilities of Europe Direct Contact Centre Communication Officers are:

  • to receive, process and respond to enquiries on EU affairs and policies from European citizens and businesses by telephone, email and web-chat
  • to research and draft answers to more complex enquiries, under the guidance and with the support of experienced supervisors (Information Officers)
  • to develop and keep up to date specialist knowledge in one or more EU policy domains, and contribute to the production of high-quality content related to these domains as the basis for answers to future enquiries.

We offer a permanent contract starting in July.

Mission

As a full-time member of the design & development team, you will be responsible for the technical development of graphical interfaces produced by web designers. Your activity will range from HTML cutting to interface scripting using CSS, JavaScript and Ajax. Your development skills will help you to provide internet users with high quality Web interfaces that combine various client-side dynamic features to improve user experience and remain accessible to visually impaired users.

Profile

Web integrator

Mission

As a web integrator in ESN’s Web Department, you will be responsible for various website updates and preparatory tasks that will range from preparing web graphics and texts to editing content for the actual content integration. You will use your HTML and CSS expertise to integrate different types of digital multimedia elements and texts into various kinds of websites.

In addition, you will be responsible for website maintenance and will keep track of website evolution from the first launch to the regular updates. In collaboration with other web integrators, you will apply the QA procedures ensuring the highest quality before the site updates go live.

Depending on the technologies involved in the websites you are in charge of, you will either work with WYSIWYG editors, CMS tools or with HTML code developed ‘from scratch’.

Profile

The ideal candidate for this position will have a minimum of two years’ experience in a similar position, as well as a strong knowledge of HTML.

You should also have a good working knowledge of how CSS can enrich the presentation of multimedia content to surfers. Furthermore, you must be aware of the compatibility of HTML with different browsers and able to overcome any problems that might be encountered.

You must be able to carry out the HTML cutting of graphical mock-ups created by the web designers according to the most recent standards recommended by the W3C and WAI accessibility rules.

You are an excellent communicator who is able to work in a production team to accomplish web integration according to tight deadlines. A sense of humour is appreciated.
